Dodgers rookie pitcher Hyun-jin Ryu went to an LA school district where they brought out the reptiles. Ryu, the poor guy, freaked out, as you can see in the photo, and hid behind some shelves. They tweeted the subsequent picture and the sneaky D-backs jumped right on it. I'm eager to see how Ryu follows his rookie campaign, going 14-8 with an even ERA of 3.00. Against the Diamondbacks, he was 1-2 with an ERA of 4.65 in 5 starts. One of his starts against them was April 13, his 3rd career start, where he went 6 innings, giving up 3 runs and striking out 9 (including Miguel Montero, Martin Prado, and Goldschmidt). Ryu also smoked a double over the rightfielder Parra's head - with his parents watching! How fun.
But wait, the offseason clowning gets better. MLB Network is currently in the second round of their #FaceOfMLB challenge, and the Diamondbacks' Gold Gloving, Silver Slugging first basemen Paul Goldschmidt was matched up against the nearly identical (other than handedness) Joey Votto. Aside from carpetbombing the twittersphere with Goldy love, they fired some shots at the Reds. Check it out:
Shots were definitely fired in the NL. I'm sure it was all in good fun. In 2013, the Reds won 4 of the 7 meetings between the two teams, despite being outscored 33 runs to 31. Mark your calendars for May 29, when the Reds fly out to the desert to face Gibson's squad. Expect the social media coordinators to be brawling.
As always, thanks for reading. Here's a link of the Great Wall robbing JP Arencibia of a home run last season: enjoy.
